Our campaign is nearly over, and I'd like to share with you why I want to be your judge. I am a criminal trial lawyer and County Court at Law #3 is a criminal trial court.
I have been practicing criminal law in Travis County for almost 24 years, almost 19 of those as a prosecutor in the County Courts at Law. With hundreds of trials under my belt, I know my way around the courtroom and I understand the responsibilities of managing a huge court docket. I understand what the people of Travis County expect and deserve in a judge and I welcome the opportunity to use my experience and dedication to face the challenges, improve the criminal justice system, and make the tough decisions.
I am a lifelong Democrat, a proud union member, and an active participant in the Austin/Travis County community since 1975 when I came to the University of Texas. This campaign isn't about me, it's about all of us. This is your court and I want to be your judge.
We have been fortunate and honored to be endorsed by every democratic club that endorsed in our race. In addition, law enforcement, labor, and the firefighters association have all endorsed our campaign. I have been honored to be endorsed by District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg, State Senator Kirk Watson, and over a thousand others. I want to thank you all for your support.
In the final days of our campaign, please free to contact me or the campaign any time, whether you have questions, suggestions, comments, or whatever. I can't win this race without you, and I hope you will join our team. Thank you for your interest and support!
Your friend,

John Lipscombe
Named "Best Qualified" in the Austin Bar Association's Judicial Preference Poll.
The Austin Chronicle endorsed John saying:
"John Lipscombe has longer and broader experience in the kind of socially complex cases facing this court and good instincts and practice at how best to address them in a progressive way."
The Burnt Orange Report said:
"John is a progressive, extensively qualified, and warm person. We are confident that he will use his experience to deliver appropriate justice to those who deserve it, while ensuring that those who commit minor offenses are not set down a road of larger crime by an overzealous judiciary."
